The Gifted Advisory Committee (GAC), is composed of volunteers who are parents or guardians of gifted students at Northern. Our mandate is to inform, engage, educate and support gifted students and their families.
We run a variety of meetings and events throughout the year, and we advocate within and beyond the school on topics that are relevant to gifted students and their education, development and well-being. We have meetings, socials and events roughly six time per year. Details of each event will be shared through the GAC mailing list, School Council "What's On" emails and the principal’s weekly bulletins.
GAC is where you can:
The gifted program is a vital part of your student's education, and contributes substantially and positively to not only their intellectual and academic development, but also to their emotional and social development and well-being. Staying informed through GAC is the best way to ensure that this great program remains strong and available to educate and support your children.
GAC meetings are a great chance to connect with other parents of gifted kids, hear updates from the Gifted Office staff, provide input and learn about ways to get involved. The committee runs a variety of events throughout the year to support students, parents and staff.
We welcome current and prospective Northern gifted families to sign up for our mailing list here.

Parent testimonials:
"Our son now is in grade 10 and is developing very well at Northern. His circle of friends increased substantially after joining Northern and finding lots of like-minded peers."
“As a parent of 2 gifted children, one who also has ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder, the gifted program has been important to us in terms of social integration and academic challenge.”
“Being in gifted at Northern has increased my child's level of interest and engagement in school- this difference was noted immediately in grade 9. My child's previous French immersion school was excellent, but the level of discussion and greater depth in exploration of topics in gifted has been critical in maintaining interest.”
"For [our son’s] social and emotional well-being we very much appreciate the gifted program in general, his experience at a private international school in the meanwhile didn't do him justice. Academically the gifted learners at that age still seem to prefer being in an environment that supports their special needs. He's happy at Northern and this is most important!"
